Gov't accused of paying lip service to the gang problem

Gov't accused of paying lip service to the gang problem: "'Every time there is a shooting they have a press conference throw out a few ideas and that is the last we hear of them.' BDA MP Mark Pettingill said he had yet to see evidence of a co-coordinated action plan to deal with the problem. Both men suggested a cross-party working group be set up to look into the issue.
Mr. Moniz believes a task force of experts should be assembled to investigate Bermuda's gang problem and make recommendations. He added: 'They don't seem to have any clue or any political will to do anything. They say something about SWAT teams, nobody knows what it means and you never hear it mentioned again. They talk about sending prisoners abroad and they haven't discussed it with anybody at the U.S. Consulate or in the Governor's office."
